About

I have represented clients and practiced exclusively in the area of family law since 2002. In 2019, I made the decision to be a non-litigation family law attorney. I am a passionate believer that parties, not the court, are in the best position to come up with solutions to their family law issues. The court system is designed as an adversarial system to pit parties against one another, say negative things about one another, increase cost and animosity and leave parties and children broken.  I am also a mediator, arbitrator, divorce consultant and parent coordinator. With the Amicable Divorce Network Process not requiring any court appearances, and not requiring I can now represent clients across the state of Georgia by utilizing Zoom for meetings and mediation.

I founded the Amicable Divorce Network in 2019 to help parties move forward through and after divorce, focus on the children, and identify like minded professionals who have the same mission-all over the world.  As an attorney and mediator (and I am divorced myself!) I saw many families being pushed into contentious situations created by attorneys when they really just wanted a reasonable divorce but mistakenly chose the wrong professionals. The Amicable Divorce Network assists clients worldwide to promote efficient and low-conflict practices, to educate practitioners on the Amicable Divorce Process, and to help parties to divorce in a low conflict and efficient manner. I am divorced myself, and I am passionate about helping families navigate the difficult process of divorce in a respectful and family focused manner and resolving their differences outside the courtroom.

I am a registered mediator with both the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution and 9th District ADR for civil, family law and domestic violence cases as a mediator and arbitrator.  I am a Certified Amicable Divorce Professional (CADP™) and have a CADP™ Special Designation for Gray Divorce and LGBTQIA+ Families. I am also a Certified Pet Custody Consultant (CPCC).

I have appeared on numerous podcasts discussing Amicable Divorce (see links below),  authored many articles on the subject as well as presented live seminars on this topic and others relating to divorce all over the United States. I am a Board Member for Mentor Me of North Georgia, contributing writer to My Forsyth Magazine, Mock Trial Coach for Alliance Academy, and a former professor of Constitutional Law. I have achieved an AV Preeminent Judicial Rating from Martindale Hubble, was named a Woman of Forsyth by the Forsyth County News, and has been listed as a Top 10 Female Family Law Attorney in Georgia since 2015. In 2020, I was awarded the Georgia Legal Award for Distinguished Leadership for founding the Amicable Divorce Network, recognizing its positive impact on Georgia family law and families. In 2023 I also received the Southeastern Legal Award for Distinguished Leadership for founding the Amicable Divorce Network, the Amicable Divorce Process and the network's international expansion.

My firm, Patterson Moore Butler received a Best of Forsyth award in 2022, and in 2023 received 5 Best of Forsyth Awards including Divorce, Family Law and Mediation, 6 Best of Forsyth Awards in 2024 as well as 5 Best of Dawson Awards in 2023 and 2024 including those for Family Law, Divorce and Mediation. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and step children, long walks on the beach and anything involving schnauzers.

Fees:

Uncontested & Amicable Divorce:  I offer both flat fee and replenish retainer structures to clients (based on their choice and circumstances of the case). My fees start at $2500 and apply to uncontested and amicable cases. Retainers and flat fees are quoted by her after a consultation to understand your legal issues and complexities in your case. Divorce Consultant retainers and fees are determined by the evaluation of the case that is needed, how far along the case is in the legal system and any ongoing involvement needed.

Hourly rate as an attorney: $375.00 per hour (does not apply in flat fee cases)

Mediation, Arbitration, and Divorce Consultant  $275.00 per hour

Consultations to explore your options available in person or on Zoom. I can only represent clients in the state of Georgia. I do charge for consultations as meeting with a potential client creates an attorney client relationship. This relationship prevents me or anyone in my firm, from representing your spouse, being your mediator, being your guardian ad litem, being your arbitrator and even impact other areas of representation we handle such as wills and probate, bankruptcy and criminal defense. Consultation costs are generally absorbed by any retainer paid and are a part of any flat fee package and not paid separately.

Consultation rate when not retained is $250.00 per hour
